Mazda has always contributed in the industry of automobile with its exceptional vehicles that are priced at an affordable rate for the mass buyers. CX-30 being one of its newest entries in the category of crossover SUVs got itself slotted somewhere between the CX-3 and CX-9.
Even though the CX-30 model series came as a compact crossover much like its parent model CX-3, Mazda has stuffed in it greater number of features while enabling it with all those tweaks that can deliver better performance. Introduced in the year 2020, the Mazda CX-30 model series took the market by storm, with its eye-catching style and the newly introduced turbocharged engine that came with the CX-30 for the model year 2021. The CX-30 SUV series from Mazda has been hugely successful that encouraged the brand to come up with a till better version of this model for the year 2022. To know what the 2022 model year version of Mazda CX-30 will bring, we asked the experts of the Mazda Corona dealership.
Engine Performance
The new 2022 Mazda CX-30 is expected to make use of the same engines that prevailed in the 2021 model year series. So you get a 2.5L inline-4 cylinder engine that can throw out 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque after being paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Following the standard configuration, the 2022 Mazda CX-30 will drive with front-wheels, while all trims can be ordered as All-wheel drive, provided the buyer is ready to spend an extra shot of $1,400.
This particular engine is also set up by Mazda as the standard one for the Select and Preferred trims of the 2022 CX-30 series, while the Turbo trim will house the 2.5L turbocharged inline-4 engine which can churn out 227 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. But the same engine can bring you 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque, when loaded in the range topping Premium trim.
The base engine of the 2022 Mazda CX-30 can sprint a speed of 0-60 mph in about 8 seconds, while the turbocharged engine can do the same in just 6.2 seconds. The figures are pretty much at par with the segment standards, and even quicker than many of its rivals. The auto experts whom we consulted at the Corona Mazda dealership suggested the buyers go for the turbocharged 4-cylinder, if they are looking for more power and grunt under the hood of their 2022 Mazda CX-30 model series. In the entire 2022 model year lineup of the 2022 Mazda CX-30, the Crosstrek trim is the only one that comes with a 6-speed manual, while all others are paired with an automatic gearbox.
According to many the 2022 Mazda CX-30 is going to offer the most power even at the base engine and is also slightly quicker than many of its competitors. Rather, it can be seen that the 2022 Mazda CX-30 models are punching slightly higher a performance score than its class weight here, thanks to the turbocharged engine and the effective driving dynamics attached to them.
